April 21, Neenah, WI – John Boekers and Mark Kilcoyne were astonished to hear they both were awarded a $1,000 academic scholarship when they were called up on stage during LeaderCon 2018. "Because of a last-minute donation to the fund we were able to have two winners this year" was the announcement from Jody Smith, the Ranger Communication Coordinator for the district. "And thank goodness, because I wasn't sure how we would be able to pick a winner from these stellar entries."
Next year that won't be so easy. Several Alumni have shown interest in contributing to the fund in the future and Gene Morrison, Head of the Rangers Aumni Association has agreed to take over the task of building the fund and having the Rangers Executive Staff pick the winners.
High school seniors that were previously chartered with Royal Rangers and that earned their Gold Medal of Achievement may apply for the scholarship. Entry will continue to be video format, which proved to be really easy for the boys and the quality of the video does not affect the judging decision.
