From Creation’s Spark to Modern Power: Mastering the Energy Merit!

God spoke, and in one voice (uni=one, verse=spoke/word), His Creation sprang to life.  And, in that first moment in time, God imparted all energy necessary to propel His ever-expanding uni-verse in motion.  And, of all the millions of celestial bodies, God designated a small blue marble to plant His ‘garden’ for His special people.

Energy is contained in all matter; but, typically, one cannot see the energy directly.  The source of the energy is locked away inside; however, the effects of energy can be readily observed in objects in motion, or sensing the heat from objects.  Not being able to observe the phenomena makes this subject particularly difficult to teach, and it is suggested to be taught at the high school level.

Energy can be classified into five forms:  [CMELTS] Chemistry, Mechanical, Electricity, Light, Thermal (heat), and Sound. These forms are analogous, e.g., thermal flow is similar to electrical flow, with conductive (and insulating) materials. Also, a greater potential voltage/temperature differential results in a higher flow-rate (of electricity/heat).  Mechanical systems can be analyzed using electrical principles; (source) potential, flow, resistance, capacitance, etc. Energy can be converted or transported from one form to another, but each conversion does have a cost of some of the useful energy wasted.  The energy is not ‘lost’, but it is converted into energy that is not viably useful; it is merely dissipated into the environment.

The Nuclear Energy relates to the radiation of light.

Energy Merit is further complicated because the 'typical' units of measure for each of the energy types is different; e.g., Chemical uses calories; Mechanical is horsepower; Electricity uses watts; Thermal heat is typically Btu,  Sound uses Decibels.  They can be converted to Watts through a conversion, but are not typically specified in those units; making energy comparison cumbersome.

By studying energy and gaining an understanding of the mechanisms that make energy, one can begin to explain the many facets of our universe, and ultimately, the true nature of God.  God is consistent in all things; for example, electrons orbit around a nucleus, and in a similar macro-scale, planets and other bodies orbit about a sun, or galaxies and beyond.  Although there are different forces for these systems; they act in similar ways.  The fundamentals behind these phenomena unlock some of the mysteries and provide special insight into the true nature of God.

God, in His words, stated that all things that He created were good.  (Genesis)  God created a ‘garden’ for us to enjoy.  He entrusted us the opportunity to use the resources He provided. The lessons in the Energy Merit present a basic understanding of energy and ways to efficiently and effectively harness the power of energy.  The ‘invisible force’ of energy makes this Merit particularly challenging, but also rewarding.  Are you ready for the challenge to gaining a new perspective of the nature of God?
